Scripture Focus- John 3:16
There is Good News– Gospel= good news, euangelion
The Gospel is good news about what God has done to reconcile sinners to himself through his Son Jesus Christ.
The Church is to share the Good News- Acts 1:8
reach316- Sow The Seed (Luke 8); Pray (Romans 10:1); Care (Luke 14-15); Share
The family of God is being gathered.
I want to share the essentials of the Gospel, what the Gospel is and how to clearly understand and share it. You hear a lot of phrases that are well intended, but are off the mark- “Ask Jesus into my heart”, “Give my life to Jesus”, “Be friends with Jesus”. Or people are led to raise their hand, sign a card, or take some other unclear step, and often the Gospel is not clearly communicated.
Let’s consider the essential truths of the Gospel, and then bring it together in how to clearly and practically communicate the Gospel.
God (For God)
The Gospel does not begin with man, it begins with God. Genesis 1:1
God is the Creator of all things and he rules over his creation. Everything starts from here and if you get this wrong, everything that follows will be wrong.
God is holy and has the authority to tell us how to live. Every person is accountable to Him.
People (the world)
God created people in His image, saw everything he had made and it was good.
God created people for fellowship with Him.
God loves his creation– I John 4:8. We are not here by accident.
Sin (will not perish)
Why would we perish? Sin= Transgression of the law and rejection of God’s authority, and ultimately rejection of God Himself.
Romans 6:23 Wages, Death, Judgment, Separation
We are guilty sinners, before a Holy God.
Salvation (gave His one and only Son)
Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, lived a sinless life, died on the cross to bear God’s wrath in the place of all who would believe in him, and rose from the grave in order to give his people eternal life. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 Jesus is the Good News!
Faith (whoever believes)
Repent and Believe- Mark 1:15 The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!
The only people you will lead to know Jesus, are those with whom you share Jesus.
Begin a conversation- Concerns, issues come up, share our testimony, Ask about Spiritual Beliefs, Church Involvement
Share the Gospel- God-People-Sin-Salvation-Faith
Call for a Response- Ask if they understand, and are willing to believe. Give them the opportunity to pray to God for salvation in Jesus Christ.
