The Apostle John wrote the Gospel of John, 1-2-3 John, and Revelation. He is referred to as the Disciple whom Jesus loved, was the brother of James, and their father was Zebedee. They worked in the fishing business on the Sea of Galilee. There, Jesus called them to come and follow him. John was faithful to the end of his life, having been exiled to the Greek Island of Patmos under Christian persecution by the Roman Emperor Domitian.

Walk in Truth.
Truth is mentioned four times in four verses.
Truth ontologically is that which corresponds with reality.
Truth theologically is that which corresponds with the character, will, and glory of God.
God the Father is truth- Psalm 86:11
God the Son is truth- John 14:6
God the Holy Spirit is truth- John 14:17
Truth helps us see things as they really are.
There is a standard for truth. The standard for truth is to be obeyed. There are consequences for denying the truth.
Walk in Love.
Truth and love are inseparable.
V6 This is love that we walk according to his commands,
John 14:15, 21, 23 Negative- v24 John 13:35
We do not obey to be saved. We obey because we are saved.
Loving Jesus is not the same as keeping His commands. Keeping His commands is not the same as loving Jesus.
To walk in love is to walk according to the Word, focused on God’s character, submitted to God’s authority. People are brought together in worship, and it yields the blessings of God.
The Promise- you will be kept by God.
The Power- God will be at work in your life.
