A Spirit-Empowered Life

We began a series of sermons recently on “A Spirit-Empowered Life” in our church. I often say, Christianity is about life with God. It is so easy to get distracted by other things and not live in the fullness of the life God intends for us as His children. There are numerous obstacles to life in the Spirit.

The most significant obstacle is sin. Even as the redeemed people of God, we struggle with sin. God calls us to a life of holiness and sanctification, which is the key to life in the Spirit.

Another obstacle is distraction. It is easy to stay busy and be unfocused on prayer and the Word of God. When this happens, our attention is drawn away from our relationship with God.

Yet another obstacle is apathy. We can easily go through the motions of the faith without truly experiencing the power of God in our lives. This is not what God intends for us.

The church can become enamored with growth methods, systems, and outward presentations. All the while, God is looking at the hearts of His people.

What does God see when He looks at our hearts?
