Be Bold

To be bold is defined as “not hesitating or fearful in the face of actual or possible danger”.

Followers of Jesus need to be bold in the faith! Lack of faith, sin, and fear of man can all be causes of timidity in our lives. The Apostle Paul in writing to the Church at Corinth in 2 Corinthians 3, spoke of the boldness he had in the Lord.

Boldness comes from the confidence we have through Christ toward God, v4. We have no sufficiency of our own, it all comes from God, through His Spirit who gives life. Boldness comes from hope, v12. Hope in who God is, and what He will accomplish through us. Boldness comes in transformation, as we are being changed into the glory of the Lord, v18.

Practically, how can we be bold in our lives?

Be bold in prayer.

Hebrews 4:16 Therefore let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us at the proper time.

 Be bold in faith.

Proverbs 28:1 The Wicked flee when no one is pursuing them, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

Be bold in sharing the Gospel.

Ephesians 6:19 Pray also for me, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the Gospel.

“Uncertainty as to our relationship with God is one of the most enfeebling and dispiriting of things. It makes a man heartless. It takes the pith out of him. He cannot fight; he cannot run. He is easily dismayed and gives way. He can do nothing for God. But when we know that we are of God, we are vigorous, brave, invincible. There is no more quickening truth than this of assurance.” Horatius Bonar
