The account of King Asa of Judah is recorded in 2 Chronicles 15. For many years Israel was without the God, a teaching priest, and instruction. When they turned to God and sought him, he was found by them. The Scripture indicates they had no peace in those years as they went about their daily activities. All they had was conflict. God raised up Asa to bring revival and restore peace which they so desperately needed.
Verse 2 is a powerful verse in the passage. “If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you abandon him, he will abandon you.” What are we seeking in life? Are we caught up in pursuing our own agenda, and chasing after the things in life that will not last? If so, we are forsaking God’s best. If we seek God he will be found and he blesses those who seek him.
When Asa was raised up the people sacrificed to the Lord and entered into a covenant with the Lord God to seek him with all their heart and all their soul. Verse 15 indicates, “All Judah rejoiced over the oath, for they had sworn it with all their mind. They had sought him with all their heart, and he was found by them. So the Lord gave them rest on every side.”
Help us God to seek you with all we have so that we will find you. Grant us rest on every side as we find peace in you.
