Calm and Quiet

644

Psalm 131

1 Lord, my heart is not proud; my eyes are not haughty. I do not get involved with things too great or too difficult for me.

2 Instead, I have calmed and quieted myself like a little weaned child with its mother; I am like a little child.

3 Israel, put your hope in the Lord, both now and forever.

There are only three verses in this brief Psalm. Yet it is deep and spiritual in the truth it conveys. In an unsettled, and noisy world, how can we you find calm and quiet?

Humble yourself. A proud heart and haughty eyes will pull you away from God.

Know your limits. The Psalmist wrote that he did not get involved with things too great or too difficult for me. Do what God has called you to do, and don’t stretch yourself beyond where He is leading.

Put your hope in the Lord. He will take care of you now, and He take care of you forever.

Thank you Lord for the calm and quiet that can be found in you. Help us rest in you, and enjoy the peace you provide for us as your children. You are our hope!
