In Psalm 25, David asked God to teach him His ways.
v4 Make your ways known to me, Lord; teach me your paths.
v5 Guide me in your truth and teach me…
v8 He shows sinners the way…
v12 He will show me the way…
Someone who is teachable is humble, recognizes their limitations, and is eager to grow and improve.
Alan Hall wrote in Forbes Magazine, “Of all the tough lessons learned, being teachable and humble stand out as the most significant and critical attributes for success, not only in business but in any endeavor. Their evil twin counterparts, pride and arrogance, are the cornerstones of failure.”
What are some keys to being spiritually teachable?
Seek knowledge and wisdom from God and His Word.
Learn to receive instruction and correction from the Holy Spirit.
Learn to be a good listener and a keen observer.
Learn to ask good questions before you focus on providing answers.
Realize that none of us will ever “arrive” on this side of eternity. Desire to steadily grow in the likeness of Christ.
Would God consider you teachable?
Proverbs 19:20 Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.
Proverbs 26:12 Do you see a man who is wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
